Workshop Description:

Sashiko is a form of Japanese embroidery that began as purpose driven stitching used to reinforce and repair textiles. It has expanded into a beautiful, detailed decorative art.

The next step in sashiko stitching, this class will cover hitomezashi (single stitch designs). This technique uses running stitches to create connected designs that to create intricate geometric patterns. Students will create a sampler of stitches that can be used to create coasters or textile patches. 

Required supplies: Sashiko thread (minimum 2 colors) and needles (both available for purchase at a 10% discount in the shop).

We’ll supply the fabric and tools.
