About Meraki’s Founder – Debbie Maddocks

Debbie has always been crafty.  She learned how to crochet in elementary school, how to macrame in junior high, and how to cross stitch in high school. Over the years she has also tried her hand at knitting, sign painting, scrapbooking, rubber stamping, and other paper crafts, needlepoint, embroidery (hand and machine), and making all the things with the Circuit – custom t-shirts, banners, and vinyl embellishments.

Her current creative obsession is sewing which she originally learned in 7th-grade sewing class but picked up again 10 years ago when she decided she wanted to make a quilt.  Now she is likely approaching the 100-quilt mark (she hasn’t been counting) and loves to make bags and has been known to make Halloween costumes.  Debbie especially loves making things for the people she loves.

Debbie spent the first 30 years of her career in finance and crafted in the evenings and on weekends. She is excited to open Meraki Creative Lounge to share her love of all things creative and spend more time being crafty and less time looking at spreadsheets.

Debbie hopes Meraki becomes a place where people feel at home and free to try new things.  Debbie has experienced so much inspiration and friendship in her creative community and hopes that Meraki is a space where new friends are found, and new passions ignited.
